Dying Matters Awareness Week

from David McCoulough, Director of Partnerships & Mission, Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham

I was wondering if any colleagues have linked in with Dying Matters Awareness Week in May ?

Does national church have any connection with this?

I am involved with a local Clinical Commissioning Group End of Life team and we have a sub group looking at Spirituality and End of life planning and care.

Council cuts to vulnerable people

From Sally Farrant, Social Responsibility Officer (Part-time), Church of England in Devon ( working ecumenically)
 Dear Ann,

Would you kindly pass this enquiry around the network?

In Torbay (Devon) there are proposed cuts of 73% to services for vulnerable people which is threatening the closure of more than 10 key projects working with homeless people etc in the area.

When I asked one of the national charities involved about whether they were seeing this elsewhere they said they hadn’t seen cuts to this extent. I wondered whether any other dioceses, church and society councils, SROs had experience of this?

Local churches are fully involved with a campaign to say that cuts need to be made to a broader area of services.

I’d appreciate any comments or advice, thanks, Sally
