I haven’t been involved in a poverty hearing but I was heavily involved in the work of the Cumbria Welfare Reform Commission, looking into the impacts of welfare reform, including several days of hearings in the first few months of 2014. The Commission was chaired by Rt Rev James Newcome, Bishop of Carlisle, and I was a member of the support team.
Thanks and best wishes,

In Torbay (Devon) there are proposed cuts of 73% to services for vulnerable people which is threatening the closure of more than 10 key projects working with homeless people etc in the area.
When I asked one of the national charities involved about whether they were seeing this elsewhere they said they hadn’t seen cuts to this extent. I wondered whether any other dioceses, church and society councils, SROs had experience of this?
Local churches are fully involved with a campaign to say that cuts need to be made to a broader area of services.
I’d appreciate any comments or advice, thanks, Sally
